{ San Francisco Night Time Engagement } Lisa and David – Part II

Here goes part II of Lisa and David’s e-session. After our first session, I just couldn’t resist taking these two out for a follow-up session. This time, we met after dark and made it more of a romantic, dramatic session where they both came a little bit more dressed up than the first time. There’re some goofy ones in the mix too, but who could resist with such a fun couple!

I brought some speedlites and did my best to make it different from my previous work. Thanks for Lisa and David’s patience during the session while I set up each shot, I was able to push some of these images creatively and get out of my comfort zone. And the results… see for yourself.

Anita is also a friend from my high school days at Lowell and if it weren’t for Facebook, we probably would’ve never reconnected. We were both a part of a close group of friends who ran cross country and track. (Yea, can you believe it?) When I met with Anita and Jason for the engagement session, they looked stylish and chic, totally like someone who walked out of a Banana Republic ad. They were pretty much up for anything, as long as they get to pinch each other and pull on each other’s ears Absolutely adorable! Also, be sure to check out the slideshow.

I reconnected with Lisa and David during Jennifer and Ken’s wedding last year. We knew each other since our High School days – we all went to Lowell in San Francisco. It’s great to be able to catch up with old friends. Lisa and David were such a FUN couple to shoot (Yes, I did want to emphasize “FUN”), we actually had two engagement sessions. They both have so much spirit and personality, it really showed in the photos. See for yourself

On a personal note, I learned to truly embrace the concept of “finding light” during this session. I didn’t use any video light or flash, but simply just looked for available light and natural reflectors to shoot with.

{ Sunol Golf Course Wedding } Xiao + Robert

It was a little over a year ago since I met Xiao and Robert at Joanna and Alfred’s wedding. Since that time, I’ve grown to know so much about them. They’ve invited me into their beautiful home for dinner where I’ve gotten to really know them as friends. I’m still amazed at the amount of respect and the level of understanding they have for each other, and I could totally see how that translates to people around them. Everything on their wedding day was so meticulously put together by both Xiao and Robert, from the flowers to the centerpieces, yet, they’ve shown so much trust in me to help plan out their wedding day schedule. I’m truly happy to see them so happy together and their marriage grow.

Beverly reached out to me last May, asking about Maternity photography for her friend. Then a month later, she ended up asking me about Maternity photography for herself I was ecstatic to hear that she was expected, especially since we had worked together at eBay for so long. Remember Matt and Sashanka?? Yep! We all worked together I’m so blessed to have such wonderful co-workers and friends who entrust me with capturing their families! I simply love intimate lunch wedding receptions. There’s something about it that makes people so relax and easy going – everyone was so indescribably nice! I met Emily one evening last year at the studio and the first impression I had was that she’s extremely down to earth. It was not until later that I met Greg at the venue walk-through. I could totally see how they’re so compatible, like a match made in heaven. It also help to have been friends for YEARS! Family and friends all laughed and giggled when watching their slideshow at the wedding, seeing how much they’ve grown together. I’m so happy for them

It was such a pleasure to photograph Matt and his family this year. Matt was one of my co-workers from when I worked at eBay and I still remember when Rosie was born, seeing photos of her on his phone. I was totally bummed when we had to cancel our shoot last year, but finally, we made it happen this year! Rosie’s cuteness took me by total surprise – so adorable, that I couldn’t resist smiling at her for the entire session. My cheeks hurt after!

I’ve known both Dela and Nikki since our college days. It was such an honor when they first asked me to photograph their engagement, and then their wedding. I had been looking forward to their wedding for a long time, not only because I’d get to see a lot of old friends, but also because I knew Nikki and Dela had been brewing up some amazing illustrations for their reception. We started the day getting ready at the Marines’ Memorial Club followed by the ceremony at the Chapel of our Lady. Then, we headed back to the Marines’ Memorial Club for reception. But of course, being at such a prime downtown location, we wouldn’t miss the opportunity to take some portraits at Union Square.

Happy Holidays! I hope everyone is having a wonderful and relaxing holiday, but as for myself, it’s been quite busy, to say the least My blog has been much neglected over the past several weeks due to the amount of events and family sessions that I’ve been shooting, but I know that’s not an excuses. The good news is… I’m back! I promise more content and more photos over the next couple of weeks as I’m finally catching up on all my album orders and editing. Today, I bring you a beautiful wedding from the wine country.

Eugene and Gabby decided to have a small, intimate wedding of close friends and relatives at the amazing Auberge du Soleil in Napa. I fell in love with this venue the first time I visited for a venue walk-through – from the picturesque view of the valley to the beautiful olive grove, and how the light hits everything during sunset is oh-so magical. Everything about the day was amazing. Both Gabby and Eugene got ready at the fancy shmancy AVIA Hotel in downtown Napa, then we shuttled over to the Clos Pegase Winery for portraits. When we finally arrived at Auberge, the big celebration is ready to begin

Finally, a loooong overdue post from one of my favorite wedding for this year! Arman and Marissa was the second out-of-town couple that I photographed this year, flying in from Colorado. They also flew in for their engagement session back in April this year and we had an amazing time.

We started the day at the Double Tree Hilton next to the Berkeley Marina. We spent a beautiful afternoon in San Francisco for portraits, then headed back to Oakland for the ceremony at the St. Vartan Armenian Church. The celebration continued at the HS Lordships, where the reception was held. This was my first time attending an Armenian wedding and oh boy, everyone knows how to celebrate. Great food, live music, and lots (and I mean LOTS) of dancing!
