I’ve known both Dela and Nikki since our college days. It was such an honor when they first asked me to photograph their engagement, and then their wedding. I had been looking forward to their wedding for a long time, not only because I’d get to see a lot of old friends, but also because I knew Nikki and Dela had been brewing up some amazing illustrations for their reception. See for yourself below

We started the day getting ready at the Marines’ Memorial Club followed by the ceremony at the Chapel of our Lady. Then, we headed back to the Marines’ Memorial Club for reception. But of course, being at such a prime downtown location, we wouldn’t miss the opportunity to take some portraits at Union Square.

Happy Holidays! I hope everyone is having a wonderful and relaxing holiday, but as for myself, it’s been quite busy, to say the least My blog has been much neglected over the past several weeks due to the amount of events and family sessions that I’ve been shooting, but I know that’s not an excuses. The good news is… I’m back! I promise more content and more photos over the next couple of weeks as I’m finally catching up on all my album orders and editing. Today, I bring you a beautiful wedding from the wine country.

Eugene and Gabby decided to have a small, intimate wedding of close friends and relatives at the amazing Auberge du Soleil in Napa. I fell in love with this venue the first time I visited for a venue walk-through – from the picturesque view of the valley to the beautiful olive grove, and how the light hits everything during sunset is oh-so magical. Everything about the day was amazing. Both Gabby and Eugene got ready at the fancy shmancy AVIA Hotel in downtown Napa, then we shuttled over to the Clos Pegase Winery for portraits. When we finally arrived at Auberge, the big celebration is ready to begin

Finally, a loooong overdue post from one of my favorite wedding for this year! Arman and Marissa was the second out-of-town couple that I photographed this year, flying in from Colorado. They also flew in for their engagement session back in April this year and we had an amazing time.

We started the day at the Double Tree Hilton next to the Berkeley Marina. We spent a beautiful afternoon in San Francisco for portraits, then headed back to Oakland for the ceremony at the St. Vartan Armenian Church. The celebration continued at the HS Lordships, where the reception was held. This was my first time attending an Armenian wedding and oh boy, everyone knows how to celebrate. Great food, live music, and lots (and I mean LOTS) of dancing!

{ Saratoga Backyard Wedding } Etienne + Emily

Etienne (or ET, they call him) and Emily invited me to their parent’s Saratoga home for an intimate backyard wedding. I’ve been excited ever since having been to the house to discuss the wedding details back in early June. The backyard has recently been remodeled with a new waterfall structure, an amazing barbecue area and a center courtyard!

The wedding was an intimate party between close friends and family, where the dinner was the centerpiece of the celebration. The food was amazing and the sharing of wine and stories over dinner brought tears of joy in everyone’s eyes.

{ Sanborn Park | Fort Mason Engagement Photography } Xiao + Robert

I met Xiao and Robert through one of my couples this year, Joanna and Alfred. They are extremely down to earth and simply a joy to be around. During the session, we talked and laugh as if we had known each other for ages. The session started in Sanborn Park up in the Saratoga Hills, where we had a little picnic, then made our way to Fort Mason in San Francisco. Although the drive was long, it was worth the trip.

Time flew by, especially since we had an ever so talkative (and helpful) assistant, Indu Huynh Her restaurant recommendation was spot on and had Xiao craving for Garlic noodles for the entire session. We finished the night having an amazingly delightful dinner at Crustacean in San Francisco! Great times!

{ San Jose Backyard Wedding } Luisa + Michael

Luisa and Michael is the first Match.com couple that I’ve ever photographed. I must admit that their connection and love for each other is so genuine that I’d have never guessed that they’ve only known each other for a year. They’re practically a match made in heaven – Michael, a lawyer, and Luisa, a doctor to be.

Seventy close friends and relatives gathered in San Jose for an intimate wedding of this amazing couple. I’m extremely thankful for Michael and Luisa and their families for welcoming me into their home for this joyous occasion! Also, special thanks to Amanda Lock shooting this even with me.

{ San Francisco Shakespeare Garden Wedding } Jennifer + Ken

I had been looking forward to Jennifer and Ken’s wedding since the beginning of this year, especially after such an amazing engagement session we had back in early April. I knew it was going to be a long day (about 14 hours) because that’s the typical chinese wedding – jam packed with details, traditions, but amazing FUN! Best of all, Jennifer and I have a lot of mutual friends, which made the wedding even more special, getting to see many familiar faces whom I’ve lost touch with since graduating from High School.

{ San Francisco Maternity Photography } Yana + Dan

Remember Yana and Dan’s first maternity session I did a couple of months ago? Well, I recently returned to their home for round two! It was week thirty-two for Yana! (Edit: Correction… it was actually week thirty-five. Thanks to Yana for the clarification. I hope I didn’t scare any moms-to-be. ) We took advantage of all the different rooms in their charming home in the mission and got lots of wonderful shots. To top it off, there were some amazing original paintings hanging on the walls, painted by Dan’s late grandmother.

Rebecca and Matt’s wedding marks the official start of my 2011 wedding season. If you haven’t seen their engagement session in AT&T Park, check it out here. With such spotty weather this spring, I was so glad the Sun decided to come out for their wedding. Cypress Hotel is one of my favorite hotels in Cupertino, so I was excited to be able to shoot there again. Their decor and ambience is excellent. We then headed over to Saint Simon Catholic Parish in Los Altos for the ceremony, where family and friends witness the union of this lovely couple.

{ San Francisco City Hall | Palace of Fine Arts Engagement Photography } Michelle + Henry

Since this session, I’ve fallen in love with shooting at the San Francisco City Hall. Although it was a Friday afternoon and the crowd got a little bit unmanageable with two weddings taking place, Michelle and Henry seemed very much at ease. They had an incredible amount of trust in me to capture the love between them, allowing me to set up lights and shoot creatively throughout the entire session. This was also my first time visting the Palace of Fine Arts since it reopened from renovation. It’s such an amazing place.
